Adult Ministries
Main Street Baptist Church, Point Pleasant, WV
- Christian Education. Because we believe Christian
growth is a life-long process, various opportunities are offered at Main Street
Baptist for spiritual growth:
- Various Sunday School classes are offered
for adults, with topical studies offered from time to time.
- Bible Studies for adults take place each
Wednesday evening at 6:30p.m.
- The School of Christiain Studies offers a three-year course of studies designed
to train Christian leaders in areas of Biblical, historical, theological and practical
matters relating to our Faith.
- Prayer. Because we know God hears and answers prayers,
our prayer chain is an important part of our church's prayer ministry Anyone
may call at anytime with a prayer request or concern and the chain of prayers
will begin. In addition, our intercessory prayer team meets before each
Sunday Morning Worship and on Thursday mornings to spend time in prayer for the
church, community, and world.
- Mature Adults The JOY Fellowship (Just Older Youth) provides
activities for our mature adults. The JOY Fellowship meets on the first Tuesday of each
month for lunch together. Often the group will go on a day excursion in the church van,
or go out for a Sunday afternoon drive and meal
together, or a similar activitiy.
- Fellowship/Recreation. Not only are JOY activities open to
everyone, but other activities are planned regularly and from time to time, such as an
ice cream social, family picnic, Sweetheart Banquet, a swimming party, and similar events.
- Women's Ministries. The purpose of our women's
ministries is to unite all the women of the church into a fellowship that will
help each one grow as a person in personal devotion to Jesus Christ as Lord
and Savior, and in commitment to the mission of His church through
worshipping, working, and witnessing in all areas of life: the home, the
community, the nation, and the world. Our Women's Ministries group meets monthly
on the second Tuesday evening. Ministries include support of mission work, relief
work locally and around the world, and developing Christian fellowship and support
among the women of the church.
- Men's Ministries. The Men's Fellowship has recently been re-organized
and meets regularly. They join together in special projects around the church, or various activities
for fellowship and 'male bonding' Some of our recent activities have included a golf outing,
a men and boys fishing outing, planning a sweetheart dinner each February. The men
also participate in retreats for Bible study and spiritual growth.
- Care Ministries.
- The Pastoral Care Ministry Team includes our prayer ministry, and various caring
ministries such as funeral dinners, hospital visitation, visiting of our shut-ins, a telephone
and greeting card ministry, home repairs, and other inistries of caring.
- Tapes are made of each Sunday Morning Worship service, and these are
made available to shut-ins or others who desire them.
