Twelve Days in the Land of the Bible

March 17-28, 2009

Hosted by Dr. Richard L. Sargent, Senior Pastor

I want to invite you to come with us for an unforgettable experience, a journey of the soul to the land of the Bible.

This tour of Israel will let us gain new understanding and fresh insight into God's Word. We will explore the land to which Abraham journeyed 4000 years ago, where King David built his nations and the Temple of God, and where Jesus revealed His power and His love. This trip will enable you to read your Bible with greater insight and clarity, and finally make the pieces of Scripture fit together.

An ancient historian wrote, "The land itself is the fifth gospel." Standing at the breath-taking vistas, viewing ancient crossroads, walking ancient Bible paths that Jesus and the prophets knew, provides an exciting experience that makes the Bible come alive. This is much more than the usual crowded church shrine and souvenir shops tour.

For three wonderful days we will focus on the center of Jesus' public ministry around the Sea of Galilee. One day we will circle the Sea entirely, and we'll sail the Sea of Galilee on a double scale replica of a first century fishing boat found in our lifetime on the northern shores of Kibbutz Nof Ginosar, and have a meal of St. Peter's fish. We will visit Capernaum, center of Jesus' Galilean ministry, and sit on a hillside overlooking the Sea while listening to the Sermon on the Mount.

Our tour experience will range from times of quiet reflection to gentle walks through narrow Jerusalem streets. We will sit at the excavated Temple Steps in Jerusalem where Jesus walked and celebrate Jesus' teaching of the parables of the Kingdom. We will walk the ancient Herodian pavement that was familiar to Jesus, adjacent the Western Wall of the Temple Mount. We will stand in a Bethlehem field and remember Jesus' birth, and visit the Garden Tomb where we will remember His death for us with a quiet celebration of the Lord's Supper.
